Cow Comfort
Animal welfare is at the heart of dairy performance. A cow that is comfortable, well-fed, hydrated, and in a clean and relaxing environment is a more productive and healthy cow. Our solutions aim to offer each animal the optimal conditions to lie down, move and eat peacefully, throughout the day. Comfort is a sustainable investment in the quality of your production.

Happy and healthy cows, optimized productivity.
Cow comfort goes far beyond a good roof: it is the balance between food, hydration, rest, space for movement and the environment. When everything is well thought out, animal health suffers, production increases and management becomes simpler. DeLaval offers a complete range of products and solutions to create an environment conducive to dairy well-being.
Lodges & sleeping surfaces
Comfortable rest starts with the right floor: anti-slip rubber mats, soft surfaces and optimized bedding materials reduce joint stress and promote better posture. When cows lie down and get up more easily, production losses decrease and udder life is protected.
Brushes & refreshments
Cows love to pass under a oscillating brush, which removes dirt and insects, stimulates blood circulation and helps maintain ideal body temperature. These natural actions improve overall comfort and allow animals to devote their energy to lactation rather than to managing their environment.
Watering
Consistent access to fresh, clean, and sufficient water is essential for health and milk production. Our drinking solutions guarantee continuous distribution, encouraging regular intakes and reducing the risk of dehydration, especially in changing weather conditions.
Calf well-being
Good comfort starts at birth. Our dedicated equipment (blankets, feeding buckets, adapted brushes) support growth, strengthen immunity and facilitate the breeding of young animals. Offering the best conditions from the start means ensuring a sustainable and efficient herd.
Complementary solutions
To complete the comfort ecosystem, DeLaval also offers necklaces, halters and lanyards, convenient for identification, care or travel, without disturbing the comfort of animals. Adapted and resistant, they facilitate interventions and improve safety.
Why invest in comfort?
- Better overall health : fewer joint disorders, mastitis or stress-related diseases.
 - Increased performance : more relaxed animals produce more milk, with consistent quality.
 - Greater durability of the installation : clean floors, adapted equipment, simplified maintenance.
 - Simplifying daily work : less curative care, more time for management tasks.

FAQs

The VMS™ is designed to operate autonomously, but it requires regular maintenance to ensure its performance: daily automatic cleaning, checking of wearing parts, weekly servicing and scheduled technical intervention. Your dealer can propose a suitable maintenance plan.
The VMS™ (Voluntary Milking System) is an autonomous milking robot that allows cows to be milked when they want, without human intervention. It improves animal health, reduces workload, and automatically collects accurate data on every milking.
It depends on the size of your herd, your available labour, your comfort level with automation and your long-term goals.
- VMS™: ideal for farms wanting to automate, improve animal welfare and collect individual data.
 - Rotary: for larger farms looking to maximise hourly throughput with few staff.
 - Parallel or herringbone parlour: a proven, cost-effective solution that's easy to maintain.

Both systems offer the same milking benefits, animal comfort and efficiency. The VMS™ V310 additionally includes RePro™ technology, which measures progesterone levels in milk to monitor ovulation, pregnancy or reproductive disorders in an automated way.
The OptiDuo™ robot doesn't just push the ration back: it automatically mixes and repositions it, encouraging cows to feed more frequently and improving the quality consistency of the ration. The result: more milk produced per cow, less wastage, and a reduction in labour of up to $3,500 a year.
This depends on the size of your herd, the type of ration (TMR/PMR), the degree of automation required and the milking model used (robotic or non-robotic). An audit or a quick chat with a DeLaval representative will help you tailor a solution.
DelPro FarmManager lets you plan and execute a rational strategy for each cow or group, based on stage of lactation (DIM), production level, or days to calving (DTC). You can programme smooth transitions between two types of feed or plan a ration supplement at peak lactation, all with assignments that follow automatically without interruption.
