What maintenance is required for a VMS™ milking robot?

The VMS™ is designed to operate autonomously, but it requires regular maintenance to ensure its performance: daily automatic cleaning, checking of wearing parts, weekly servicing and scheduled technical intervention. Your dealer can propose a suitable maintenance plan.

What is the VMS™ robotic milking system?

The VMS™ (Voluntary Milking System) is an autonomous milking robot that allows cows to be milked when they want, without human intervention. It improves animal health, reduces workload, and automatically collects accurate data on every milking.

Which option is best for me between VMS™, rotary or traditional parlour?

It depends on the size of your herd, your available labour, your comfort level with automation and your long-term goals.

  • VMS™: ideal for farms wanting to automate, improve animal welfare and collect individual data.
  • Rotary: for larger farms looking to maximise hourly throughput with few staff.
  • Parallel or herringbone parlour: a proven, cost-effective solution that's easy to maintain.

What is the difference between the VMS™ V300 and the VMS™ V310?

Both systems offer the same milking benefits, animal comfort and efficiency. The VMS™ V310 additionally includes RePro™ technology, which measures progesterone levels in milk to monitor ovulation, pregnancy or reproductive disorders in an automated way.

Why invest in an OptiDuo™ type robot?

The OptiDuo™ robot doesn't just push the ration back: it automatically mixes and repositions it, encouraging cows to feed more frequently and improving the quality consistency of the ration. The result: more milk produced per cow, less wastage, and a reduction in labour of up to $3,500 a year.

How do I know which equipment is right for my farm?

This depends on the size of your herd, the type of ration (TMR/PMR), the degree of automation required and the milking model used (robotic or non-robotic). An audit or a quick chat with a DeLaval representative will help you tailor a solution.

How to use DelPro™ for an optimised ration?

DelPro FarmManager lets you plan and execute a rational strategy for each cow or group, based on stage of lactation (DIM), production level, or days to calving (DTC). You can programme smooth transitions between two types of feed or plan a ration supplement at peak lactation, all with assignments that follow automatically without interruption.
